Category: From the FieldPerdido Key Beach Mice in the NewsIn July 2007, the Zoo was the lucky recipient of 12 (6 male, 6 female) Perdido Key Beach Mice (PKBM) on loan from the United States Fish and Wildlife Service. The mice were a combination of the original animals rescued during Hurricane Ivan in the Florida panhandle in 2004 along with their offspring. Although these mice are tucked away behind the scenes, Brevard Zoo has increased this important beach mice to more than 70.
