Global warming is real and a threat to the world's animal population. The year 2004 was the fourth hottest on record, extending a trend since 1990. If we continue to emit greenhouse gases at our current pace, our earth's temperature is projected to skyrocket by as much as 10º F in the next 100 years.

2008 Events Overview

Planet Dinosaur
Planet Dinosaur is about to come to and end on May 11, 2008. Starting May 1 until the end of the exhibit, Brevard Zoo is offering discounted admission into the exhibit. Visit Planet Dinosaur for $4, just $3 for Zoo members.

Travel back in time for a rite of passage through planet earth and witness first-hand 13 life-size, prehistoric dinosaur migrations across seven continents. Don’t forget your passport! Test your knowledge of dinosaurs and come see what earth was like millions of years ago. The temporary exhibit ends May 11. The exhibit is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Last admission is 4 p.m. Zoo members can get in early every day at 9:30 a.m. 

Planet Dinosaur is presented by National City. Other sponsors include Four C's Nursery, Space Coast Office of Tourism, Acropolis, Billings Productions, Inc., Florida Today, Ring Power, Boeing, and The Highland Mint. Other sponsors include Best Western Cocoa Beach, Keller Williams Realty, Merritt Island Surgery Center, The Title Company, and United Space Alliance.

Safari Under the Stars
Each year the Zoo hosts its annual fundraiser Safari Under the Stars the last Saturday in April. Next year's fundraiser is currently scheduled for Saturday, April 25, 2009, with a rain date for the following Saturday. Check back in early 2009 for complete details.

Summer Saturday Nights
Beat the summertime heat this July and August as the Zoo stays open until 9 p.m. every Saturday during these two months. Most of the animals are out on exhibit (but some do go in including the birds, rhinos, anteater, and some of the monkeys), take a sunset kayaking tour, ride the train, meet some of our animals, and listen to music. Last admission is 8 p.m.

Great Tastes of Suntree
Our annual food and wine tasting extravaganza is Saturday, September 20, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Sample delicious food from over 30 restaurants, enjoy a beer and wine tasting, listen to music, and visit with some of the animals until dusk. Cost is $30 per person and Zoo members receive a $5 discount (only one ticket price, the event is not recommended for children.) This fundraising event is hosted by the Zoo and Rotary of Suntree.

Boo at the Zoo
Get in costume this Halloween season and enjoy the Zoo all decked out in spooky fun! Enjoy games and crafts, trick-or-treating, the costume contest, and for the older kids we introduce the Scare Zone this year. There are lots to do and see around the Zoo. This year’s event is October 17-19 and 24-26. Check back soon for all the details.
